I’ve lived in the Redland’s since 1971, when my family moved to beautiful Coochiemudlo Island. It was a wonderful place to grow up. I moved to the mainland not long after commencing work in administration. I don’t think I would want to live anywhere else. We have the best weather, live so close to Brisbane and are in between the Sunshine and Gold Coasts.
I love to take landscape images to showcase our wonderful country, and experiment with creative techniques to display my ideas and bring them to life.
I enjoy showcasing a variety of different images. I don’t just shoot landscapes or flowers. I think you grow as a photographer if you try new things. I joined the Redland’s Camera Club in 2007. At the time I only had a point and shoot camera. I saved up and purchased my first Digital SLR camera – Nikon D5000 and have since upgraded to D750.
I have received many awards in the club with our monthly competitions as well as yearly exhibitions that the club hosts. In 2015 I received many awards with our National Exhibition: Bronze and Gold Awards, as well as the Redland’s Camera Club’s Champion Print Award A Grade, for my image “I Am Brisbane”, see below.
I entered the same photo in the Brisbane Festival Goa Photo comp “I am Brisbane”, 2015. I was delighted to have been one of the finalists and my image was displayed in the Judith Wright Centre in Fortitude Valley for the week of the festival.
